The Bathroom Reno

Dear Diary,

It’s official I have entered my First-Time Renovator Era. Not by choice, obviously, but because a pipe in the bathroom decided to absolutely lose its mind, burst behind the shower, and quietly rot out the wall. Effortless chaos. Love that for NOT!!

I had been wondering why things were feeling a bit… damp. A bit moody. The wall was giving “Northern Rivers humidity” but in a deeply incorrect way. Then, in a moment of pure curiosity, I pressed my hand against it and it went straight through. Straight. Through.

Instant indoor water feature. Very immersive.

Enter  Old time friend Dan (builder, voice of reason, ), and within moments of pulling the wall back we realised this wasn’t a “quick fix,” this was a full-blown situation. A disaster, but make it character-building.

But yikes aside… something unexpected happened. I got inspired. Likecalm, centred, slightly delusional levels of inspired. Suddenly I’m not just repairing a bathroom, I’m curating a vision.

Which, naturally, led me to the completely rational decision that I should make my own tiles. Again. Because clearly I thrive under unnecessary complexity. Bathroom tiles, kitchen tilesI’ve done it before. This time? We’re evolving. We’re experimenting. We’re perhaps overcommitting.

It all started with a casual “where do I even begin?” and has somehow become “I suppose I’m a tile artist now.” As one does.

Anyway, here’s the first photo of the unfolding chaos/journey/transformation. Will it become a beautifully handmade sanctuary? Will it become a cautionary tale? At this stage, it’s really anyone’s guess.

Yours truly

Sammy
