A living practice

Samantha Robison’s work begins with her Signature Collection a defining expression of her practice. Handcrafted porcelain, instantly recognisable, bringing colour, light, and beauty into the everyday. This collection spans porcelain teacups, refined dinnerware, and the now-iconic watermelon bowl pieces that balance function with sculptural presence. Each work is entirely one-of-a-kind, shaped by hand and refined over time, existing as both object and collectible art.

The Signature Collection was born in Bondi, shaped by the coastal light, salt air, and a creative energy rooted in its surroundings. It is now evolving from the Byron Bay hinterlands, where the slower pace, lush landscape, and deeper connection to nature continue to inform and influence the work.

Bespoke retropestive a series of past collaborations with restaurants, galleries, and master chefs, alongside recognisable works created in dialogue with contemporary culture. This includes collaborations such as T2 Terange and Anthropologie monogram mugs, where design, brand, and craft meet to create pieces that are both functional and expressive. These works are created in response to space, experience, and use designed to be held, shared, and lived with. Here, porcelain moves beyond the studio, becoming part of a wider, shared narrative.

The journey then flows into Flowers in Bloom a still life collaboration between floristry, photography, and porcelain. Developed in dialogue with floral arrangements from florists and flower growers, including unique wedding flowers and Bluegum Flower Farm, and captured through the lens of photographer Hugh Stuart, this series explores the relationship between form and fragility. Flowers are paired with porcelain vases, creating compositions that highlight balance, texture, and the quiet beauty of fleeting moments. The work exists at the intersection of disciplines—where nature, material, and image come together to create a living still life.

At the centre of the Signature Collection sits The Cathedral Series—a defining moment within Samantha’s work. Inspired by the quiet stillness of sacred spaces and the shifting light of stained glass, these pieces explore depth, translucency, and atmosphere. Layers of glaze allow each work to respond to its surroundings, creating moments of stillness, light, and quiet reflection.

Now, Samantha is moving into a more personal journey exploring her artistic practice through interiors yet to be dreamed up. This next chapter extends her porcelain philosophy into space, where material, light, and environment converge to create immersive, lived-in experiences.

What begins in porcelain now finds its way into space into walls, surfaces, and homes. It is a continuation of the same philosophy: a sensitivity to material, a respect for craft, and an evolving relationship between maker, object, and environment.

Across every chapter, Samantha Robison’s work remains connected—an unfolding journey from object to space, from studio to home, from making to living.

A practice not defined by category, but by its continual transformation.
